I spotted this little beauty on Tumblr whilst searching for alternative ways of printmaking. This particular piece uses Linotype (with each of the letters hand carved) over a really nice monotype printed background and is a great example of showing what can be achieved by combining more than one printmaking technique. The colours for the background really stood out with a really good colour palette and an interesting effect caused by the overlapping colours.
The typography is particularly appealing. Whilst attention has been given to making the letters line up and have the same height, style and consistency, it’s the fact they all look different as well and this gives each character personality. The black text also contrasts well with the colourful background.
