I think when working with peacocks in design and illustration, you have to take advantage of the beauty and complexity of their tail feathers. I feel Holder’s approach to this not only does this but does so in an interesting way in which the tail feathers are actually really dull colours compared to the brighter bodies. I personally don’t think this is a bad approach as you are immediately drawn to the feathers as they stand out. There is also a really good use of simple patterns to show the complexity and layered arrangement of the peacock’s feathers.
