These 4 colour screen prints absolutely blew my mind when I saw them. Firstly, the style is absolutely fantastic which has a really friendly feel about it. Secondly, this piece has been screen printed yet it feels as if this has been constructed in 3D. This effect gives the piece depth, as if you could walk around the work.
This is such a great example of what can be achieved with printmaking and I feel this design would lose it’s appeal had it been purely digital.

I absolutely love this one colour screen print by Deanne Cheuk. I really enjoy patterns and geometry so this piece was right up my street. The patterns vary from thin strokes to block fills which contrast nicely and create this impression of layers on top of each other. The use of triangles move you down to the rest of the piece but then introducing diamonds creates an almost distorted feel which makes you stop and look.
The style, using triangles and diamonds, seems relevant with current fashion trends which seem to have adapted an aztec pattern feel.
The whitespace around the image is essential to this images success as it frames the pattern nicely and also prevents you from being completely overwhelmed. Cheuk has done a whole range of these patterns that are definitely worth looking at on her website.

I spotted this beautiful screenprint via Behance. What struck me was the effect the use of angles had on guiding the eye around the design. It appears the grid works both vertically, horizontally and at a 45 degree angle. Keeping to this grid creates a consistent feel throughout the design and also forces the eye to snake down the design.
The colour palette is limited but powerful. The intense orange and green literally jump out from the greyscale background. It also creates a layered feel which links nicely to the layered element of screen printing.

A fantastic poster created by many hours of drawing and then applied to screen printing to make multiple copies. There is a really nice use of symmetry, contrast, pattern and shape that makes this poster a real pleasure to look at.
